Song Zhiyong Inspects Flood Prevention Work at Beijing Capital International Airport and Greets Frontline Staff
On July 29, CAAC Administrator Song Zhiyong visited Beijing Capital International Airport to inspect flood prevention efforts. Song emphasized that the entire industry must thoroughly study and implement the important instructions of President Xi Jinping on flood prevention and disaster relief, get prepared for worst-case scenarios and extreme situations, prioritize safety, and make every effort to ensure flight safety and the security of personnel, equipment, and facilities. Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, also joined the inspection.
At the airport's flood prevention command office in the Operational Control Center, Song Zhiyong conducted a special inspection and made deployments of flood control measures. Song inquired in detail about the operational status and support conditions of Beijing's two major airports, reviewed drainage conditions in the airfield and surrounding areas via a 3D visualization system, and examined the application of intelligent monitoring and early warning systems, emergency response team staffing, and material reserves. Song stressed the need to strengthen raining and flood season safety measures and ensure stable airport operations. During an on-site visit to the meteorological observation station of the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, Song inspected equipment operations and supporting systems, urging staff to maintain their meticulous approach and further improve the timeliness and accuracy of weather forecast to provide high-quality meteorological services for flight safety.
Song also extended his regards to frontline civil aviation staff, including those at Air China's Flight Operations Division, Ameco Beijing, and Bureau of Public Security at Capital Airport, encouraging them to stay committed to their duties and ensure safety during the summer travel rush.
