China Launches Pilot Project for the Application of Sustainable Aviation Fuel
On September 18, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) held a launching ceremony for the pilot project of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) application in Beijing, aiming to implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council with practical actions, to promote SAF development in China in an integrated manner, and to better promote the green and low-carbon development of the civil aviation industry. According to the pilot work arrangement, from September 19, 12 flights of Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines from Beijing Daxing, Chengdu Shuangliu, Zhengzhou Xinzheng, and Ningbo Lishe airports will be officially refueled with SAF.
Representatives from CAAC, NDRC, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and National Energy Administration, as well as representatives of relevant civil aviation enterprises, aircraft manufacturers, aviation fuel suppliers and other entities attended the launching ceremony. Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, delivered a speech. At the launching ceremony, China National Aviation Fuel Group, together with Civil Aviation University of China and the Second Research Institute of CAAC, also launched an initiative to establish a SAF industry alliance.
